Samantha Rahn

A passionate sommelier and world-traveler, Samantha arrived in Whistler in the fall of 2007 and started working as wine director at Araxi, managing the highly acclaimed 11,000 bottle library for 11 years. Previously residing in Banff, Rahn was also wine director at the award-winning Maple Leaf Grille for six years where she led the restaurant to numerous recognitions, including Wine Spectator’s ‘Best of’ Award of Excellence.

Trained at the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and with over 20 years of hospitality experience, in 2013, Samantha won the title of “Sommelier of the Year” at the Vancouver International Wine Festival and was recognized with the “Premier Crew Service Award” at the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards. An accomplished musician, Samantha is also a former snowboard cross racer, certified snowboard coach and avid downhill mountain bike competitor.


Geoff Weddell

Geoff and his family have lived in Whistler since 1998 and he has worked in the hospitality industry for over 30 years. Raised in Kamloops, B.C., Geoff moved to Vancouver to experience the city life when he landed a job at Joe Fortes working during Expo '86 and the 10 years thereafter.

"Joe's was the driving force behind my interest in wine". During his time at Joe Fortes, Geoff traveled to the Napa Valley and it was a week at the Culinary Institute of America that motivated him towards his successful completion of The International Sommelier Guild's Sommelier Diploma program. Geoff also completed the ISG Instructors program to offer training and educational options for local businesses and everyone interested in learning more about wine.

"Wine for the people" is what he’s all about. "I want to break down all the stigmas and pretension that is sometimes associated with the enjoyment of wine".

Geoff has worked with local businesses and conducted wine service and food pairing seminars, and continues to teach for the ISG in addition to his full-time job at Quattro Restaurant as General Manager/Sommelier right here in Whistler.
