About Eric Blouin
Eric has dedicated his professional life to wine and the pleasures that surround it. For the last 20 years – 14 of them based in Whistler - he has been involved with many aspects of the hospitality and wine industry. Formerly Sommelier and Wine Director at Whistler’s award-winning Bearfoot Bistro, he now works closely with importers, restaurateurs and retailers, where he consults on a number of wine programs across British Columbia.Eric’s reputation for leading engaging, and entertaining tastings and seminars has been built from his no nonsense approach to wine education. His goal is to make wine more approachable and less intimidating. He encourages people to try different wine styles and grape varieties, to ask questions and, most importantly, to keep an open mind.He has been trained by the International Sommelier Guild, holds the title of Chevalier de la Confrérie de Champagne de Venoge and is also a scholarship recipient from the Society of Wine Educators.Eric has travelled throughout the wine regions of France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, Canada and the United States. In 2010, Eric and his wife Annie began a small project in Oregon showcasing handcrafted, site-driven wines from growers who value respect for the land and sustainable practices.
